Career Expo for Independence
Jan 14, 2010
The Orlando VA Medical Center and Center for Independent Living/Business Advisory Council present this event for our nation’s returning combat veterans, seniors, and persons with disabilities. The event will take place:
Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 10a.m. to 3p.m.
At the VA Medical Center, 5201 Raymond Street, Orlando Florida 32803
Unemployment, especially in today’s challenging economic times, is a primary concern with qualified veterans, seniors and people with disabilities. We are soliciting local, state and federal employers to participate who have current job openings or expect to have them in the near future and have a strong interest in assisting these individuals in obtaining gainful employment & self-sufficiency. We look forward to having you join us in a collaborative effort in support of this key initiative.
Veterans are an untapped and enthusiastic work force. Transitioning from military to civilian life presents numerous hardships and these men and women require a robust and collaborative community effort to make this event successful. Many veterans are trained in highly technical areas and have maturity and occupation-related experiences that qualify them for a variety of civilian job openings.
Set up:
Set up hours are from 8:30a.m. - 9:30a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2010. We encourage you to arrive early so you are prepared before the job seekers arrive, scheduled for 10:00a.m. You will be assigned one table and two chairs and the table will be marked with the name of your organization.
