Top Legislative Issues for District 26

Jobs & the Economy (75.9%); Government Spending (69.5%); Taxes (50.2%); Offshore Drilling (45.1%); Government Transparency (44.2%); Education (33.4%); Health Care (31.6%)


Tax Cuts, Job Creation

Nearly 85% of respondents support tax cuts for families and small businesses as a way to help spur job creation in our state

75.4% support a 1% tax cut for Florida corporations to help spur hiring

73% support tax incentives for film and television companies to bring new, clean jobs to our state

81.8% support the idea of an income tax credit for businesses that hire Floridians who are out of work


Government Spending

72.6% of constituents would like to see the Legislature address any budget shortfalls by lowering government spending without increasing taxes or fees

80% say that the state should not tap into reserve funds and should look for other ways to balance the budget, like cutting spending


Education

77.3% support relaxing the state’s class size requirements for individual classes so that local school districts can decide what is best for them


Health Care

67.1% support the state ratifying the Health Care Freedom Act to allow Florida to “opt out” of the Washington health care takeover

64.9% say the best strategy to reform America’s health care system is by controlling costs by fighting fraud, limiting frivolous lawsuits and making health care expenses tax deductible for families and businesses


Energy Exploration

76.7% support legislation to allow offshore oil drilling on the Gulf Coast of Florida


Transparency

97.4% support requiring counties to be more transparent in the ways they spend your tax dollars
